Hi everyone, Elias hasn't cracked the whip for a while, but early on when this list was forming, he was asking everyone to introduce themselves. Rather than just the name, rank serial number stuff, it was requested that people 'toot' their horns in this introduction to give those of us on the list a chance to get to know some of the great things you've done, are doing, and even want to do.
I'm preparing a short lightening talk for the OSDC conference next week, and the biggest thing I can point to about the benefits of being in this groups is the quality of the pople here and participating. So, if you haven't introduced yourself to the SIlicon beach family yet, don't be shy! Ta] Hi everyone. Something about me.... I'm probably a bit older than some here, but no matter; I still have IT and life experience to offer. Based in southern Sydney. Was in IT/internet/intranet Support at at a major bank until I left in July08. I began my original journey in Electronics, then moved to Computing. Skills: Windows systems (server and desktop) Intranet/internet/email/web systems Firewalls, dns, proxies, etc Database: MySQL and MS-SQL Development: systems using vb, vbscript, .net, php, html, xml, etc I have some part-time IT work with an engineering company, but available to anyone who may need assistance with Backend stuff, dns management, email, etc. Also wierd Windows behaviour(!). While I have a few ideas of internet ventures, I am probably more suited to helping make someone else's ideas come to pass. I have made some (xml driven) websites for our church group as well as some wedding video editing, so I am versatile too! I bring an engineering profile to a task; I analyse the need and work out the optimum way to do it; if something is not quite right, then I try to fix it!
