Hi,
I've been using VNC for about 2 years now as an administrative tool.
We've just started to upgrade our NT machines to Win2K. I've got WinVNC
installed correctly, and apparently configured as per normal ... but it
seems that the session password I set when configuring the service never

Alex,
Yes, it is in the location you specified, and I searched for other
passwords, but they were all (zero-length binary value), as well.
Maybe I'm missing something:
I've:
a. Added the AuthRequired DWORD with a 0 value
b. Changed the Password BINARY to a value that comes up as (zero-length
Ted,
Just to double-check - did you create the value in the following location?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\
It is supposed to be a local machine-specific setting, so it takes effect there.
Since you probably did so, I would check to see if you have a password set in
any of the fo
Hi,
I'm trying to embedded the Java VNC client into another application. (I
realize VNC server's have a default Java interface, but this is going to be
a different UI).
I had already built the sample code and ran from a java command line and it
connected to my VNC server fine.
I was able to co
Hi,
I can't get AuthRequired = 0 to work on Win2K. I've added this entry as a
dword, and set it's value to 0 (and 1), as the documentation says, plus
cleared the password from the registry, but when I run either the
application or the service, it still forces me to enter a password.
We are on a
Hello, more than likely the password was changed. This is a known bug in
VNC. If the product in uninstalled and the associated registry keys
deleted, all works fine after re-installation. You can also simply delete a
single key but I can not recall which one.

Hi,
I have installed winVNC as service on a PC, but when I rebooted this machine
and tried to connect to it through the VNCViewer, I could see the 'login
screen' on the server machine. But once you have logged in, I couldn't
connect to the server. The interesting thing is, if I connect to the ser
Paul,
I couldn't find any registry access code in the viewer. It would work if
you saved your connection settings and then started the viewer from the
connection settings.
Your other option would be to use the -shared option in the target path of
the shortcut.

Hi everybody
I have update an old set of patches that bring strong encryption to
VNC. The encryption is seemleassly built into VNC, without the need
for SSH tunnels etc.
Currently, I have them only for the Windows version of TightVNC 1.2.3
(server and client). And at the moment, I only provide s
OK, this may be a silly question, but can you ping the FreeBSD box from the
others and vice versa?
I've just installed a FreeBSD box at home :) So this is something I'm gonna
be doing soon.
