OK, this may be a silly question, but can you ping the FreeBSD box from the
others and vice versa?

I've just installed a FreeBSD box at home :) So this is something I'm gonna
be doing soon.

Lee Brown

Subject: FreeBSD problems

Hi,

I have 3 computers, 2 W2K machines and 1 FBSD. VNC is installed on all. I
can access one W2K from the other W2K and vice versa, but I cannot get to
the FBSD machine from either, nor can I get to either W2K from the FBSD.

I checked IPFW on FBSD: it is not blocking any packets for VNC, and I even
turned off IPFW just for good measure. Still it is not working.

I am current with CVSup and I installed VNC from the ports collection today.
PS says that vncserver is running, and when I use vncviewer, the IP dialogue
box pops up, but when I enter a valid IP, it just returns blank as if I
could enter a fresh IP into it. No error messages are returned. From W2K,
the error messageis "could not connect to server." I am using 4.4 Release
(FBSD).

This should be so simple, that I don't know what to do about it. Does
anyone have any helpful thoughts as to what the problem could be?

Thank you,

vberic
