This is the default (HKLM) vs user (HKCU) behavior. You need to go in
with the registry editor and make the HKLM password key the same as your
HKCU password key.
I'm working on a better UI for tight vnc that corrects this problem.

You shouldn't have a problem using the Viewer from any distribution with the
server for another. Stick to the compression that is common to both, such
as Hextile etc, and you shouldn't have a problem.

We were using McAfee 4.5.1, with scan engine version 4.0.70 and dat version
4194 which was "detecting" in VNChooks.dll
the WINvnc.dll so called trojan, and then deleting the file. We have now
updated the scan engine to 4.1.60 and are now having no
problems with Mcafee detecting VNC as a trojan?
New Version Available for w2k. (nt driver in progress)
Driver works for 32bpp-24bpp-16bpp (not 256 on server)
Compatible with older viewers, but this way not all options can be used.
Bandwidth switch on viewer.
A mix from parts of tridia at&t and tight.
Rubber bands on window moves are visable..
We use McAfee 4.5.1 here, it has no problem with VNC, it did about a year
ago with one DAT version but they fixed it within 2-3 days.

Has anyone tried to run the virus cleaner in McAfee to see if it cleans off
VNC because it's classified as a Trojan? If it does clean it off, does it do
it automatically (assuming you have McAfee set to 'autoclean' viruses) or
does it at least prompt asking if you want to remove it?
Thanks, Ken
Stop and restart the WinVNC server; it should pick it up right away.

Hi Chandra,
You asked:

There is no code to remember the viewer's state.
This is because there is *no* viewer state.
It is *all* stored and 'remembered' by the *server*.
The viewer just shows what the server tells it to, and that is o

The Xvnc application (the server for most unixes) requires that you add a
parameter so that it knows where the java classes are, and what port you
want to serve those classes on:
-httpd /somepathtoclassesdir
and
-httpport port
this of course means that you need to know where the classes dir is,
They work the same way. The applet is served from a mini web server running
on, say, port 5800; the applet then immediately connects you to port 5900.
Only the initial applet download comes through the lower numbered port.

Well.. I only get RFB 003.003 ifg I gop straight to port 5900. I believe
this has to do with the fact that WinVNC has handler code to start the
applet. I'm not sure about the HP version.

Konqueror usually needs to be told where to find Java. The best Java for it,
as far as I know, is Blackdown's JRE (don't have the URL handy). Sun's Java

No clue, unfortunately - I haven't had the opportunity to play with
Konqueror much and my Linux client-side Java troubleshooting skills are nil.
Based on the fact that Linux messages tend to be fairly good, I tend to
think that it is at least *offered* a Java applet.

Welll, not working... DNS2Go is working because I see the IP# trying to

My config is as follows:
On my Barricade Router:

ID#2 open on Port 5901
On my VNC
Computer #1 Redirect to port 5800
Comptuer # 2 Redirect to port 5801
Which should I change ?

Do you know how to do the same using KDE Konquerer. I get a java error :
"Java applet not loaded".
