I would say to anyone using McAfee, that if they have a problem with it
picking up VNC as a trojan, to try to updating to the latest engine,
currently 4.1.60 (available from
http://www.mcafeeb2b.com/naicommon/download/dats/find.asp)

As I understand it, the engine is the component that does the actual
scanning, and they modify it periodically to handle false positive reports,
like this, amongst other things. If you're going to update the engine, I
would also make sure that you have the latest DAT, as an out of date DAT and
up-to-date engine, has been known to cause extensive and infuriating
problems amongst the customers I support.

We were using McAfee 4.5.1, with scan engine version 4.0.70 and dat version
4194 which was "detecting" in VNChooks.dll
the WINvnc.dll so called trojan, and then deleting the file. We have now
updated the scan engine to 4.1.60 and are now having no
problems with Mcafee detecting VNC as a trojan?

cheers,
Brad.
