You might want to try TightVNC or something similair. The regular VNC
server sends everything a program draws. TightVNC would check to be sure
that it isn't just drawing the same thing over again. You can find it on
the VNC web site under 3rd party apps or something like that.

I would appreciate any suggestions regarding a performance problem I'm
having.
Background:
We develop Java apps using Together/J and NetBeans running on a dual
Pentium 1GHz with 1GB RAM, with Linux 7.1. We have vnc 3.3.3r2 and start
the server like this...
vncserver -cc3 -geometry 1600x1200
Hi Rehl,
I have had problems like this too. How I solved them is to uninstall vnc,
delete all registry values I could find, reboot, reinstall, merge registry
values, install service, and the most important part:
go to services and start the newly installed service and then it will ask
for a pas
See http://services.simac.be/vnc/gina.html - same idea, but config is
somewhat manual...

For the VNC programmers on the list,
Hi!
I am using VNC connection with linux client and win98 as a server. I
have found out that latin2 character translation works ok for keys:
ccaron, Ccaron, cacute, Cacute, but not for scaron, Scaron and zcaron,
Zcaron.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am using X 4.1.x on my linux machine.
For the VNC programmers on the list, has any thought been given to
making the VNC server peice capable of serving multiple sessions
fromWindoze NT/2000, acting like a Winframe Terminal Server, but not
having to pay for a commercial solution? I know the idea is to keep VNC
compact and changing

okay, did you just update to sp2?
if so, check resolution of admin account.

Nope - it's a service, and it's started.

I know from searching the list archives that this has been asked many times
before, but haven't found anything recent regarding it.
I want to have two passwords available to connect to a VNC server on WinNT.
One would be a password the 'owner' of the box would be able to set and use,
the other wo
It sounds to me like you're not running VNC as a service. If you reboot the
server and look at the list of services remotely (before anyone logs in), do
you see "VNC Server" in the list of services? Is it's Startup mode
"Automatic"? Is it "Started"?
If no, install VNC as a service and try again.
Default password is set. We've seen this since about r9.

A liitle more info. would help since my mind reading skills are a bit rusty
;-) .
Are you running the vncserver script or using inetd?
If using inetd, does Mandrake 8.0 have xinetd or does it still use inetd?
If running the vncserver script, is it the newer one in init.d or the standard
vncserv
This sounds like the default password isn't set, just the current user.
Set this from start -> programs -> vnc -> administrative tools -> show
default settings.

We're seeing an issue around the shop with Windows 2000 servers. It
won't authenticate ANY password (this is more than one box) after a
reboot. The only way it will allow remote access is if you log onto the
local desktop (TSC access isn't a substitute).
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I posted a message related to my trouble with the installation of the

hi
I'm not shure that WinVNC can do this, but NetSend, Send and NTSend can.
With these programs you can send messages to spessified computers, users or
domains. If NETBIOS is enabled, this program should work.
NTSend can be downloaded from this adress:
