What encoding are you using? What speed network are you on? If you are using RAW encoding, you might try going to hextile. You could also try Tight avaliable with TightVNC, but if you are on a high speed network, this might actually make things worse. If the backgroud is dithered, I know Tig

It sounds to me like you're not running VNC as a service. If you reboot the server and look at the list of services remotely (before anyone logs in), do you see "VNC Server" in the list of services? Is it's Startup mode "Automatic"? Is it "Started"? If no, install VNC as a service and try again.

We're seeing an issue around the shop with Windows 2000 servers. It won't authenticate ANY password (this is more than one box) after a reboot. The only way it will allow remote access is if you log onto the local desktop (TSC access isn't a substitute). Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Tom
