Can I use a uml patch for an earlier version of the kernel ?

Hi All,
following up the Mr Brendan question i tried follow the steps at the
uml page to make the gui works. I install the Icewm window manager
using xnest. The goal was to use graphic ethereal for frame capture.
The result get was very slow, sometimes freezing the xwindows/xnest
window.

I am writing scripts to building an uml based virtual tcp/ip network

I wish have hosts playing the role of routers communicating with each

It is possible ?

Dear Sirs,
i am buiding an uml from source.
The kernel version is 2.6.15.4.
My gcc version is 2.95.4 as recommended in readme file from kernel .bz2 file.
I am using Ubuntu 6.06.
With or without applying appropriate uml patch i receive the error output below.

Dear Sirs,
First of all forgive me for my english.
I want to ask to the group if is possible build a connection between a
windows vmware machine and an uml machine using tun/tap or the
uml-switch.
I wish to build an environment to study samba, active directory or
anything else involving windows
.
Again, thanks.

My fault again.

Thus,
for host kernel: 2.6.15 version

I have to ask: uml is a linux (working in user mode). Why the difference ?

Is not required for 2.6.15 ? Why ???
I already downloaded the skas-2.6.15-v8.2.patch.bz2 (skas3-v8).
For guest
Ok. But...

I remember that you suggested to me a 2.6.15 kernel version.
You say "..there are issues with x86 host kernels >= 2.6.16."
Is it only for host kernel ? For uml kernels its better use the last version ?

What the terminations bs2 and tls stands for ?

the problem ?
Thanks for any help.
