how about having two (or more) application lenses? This isn't as silly
as I first thought it was because only one of them has to implement the
globalsearch function and populate results on the home lens of the dash.
There could be the standard one with the recent stuff and adverts from
software
I have always wondered why we didn't just do this from the very beginning of
Unity. Great mockup and idea! God loves you!!!

The filters could have support for icons, where it is much economical in
the mobile or tablet space. The look of application lens might look like

offer the option to keep it hidden. Someth

We can certainly improve the interaction design of the dash. This
proposal has a number of issues, however:
* it promotes categories alphabetically, which is arbitrary
* it would hide search results in "lower" categories even if they were
more relevant than results in "higher" categories

I for one agree with you Alan. I don't know how this can be altered to be

I have just seen a broadly positive article about 12.04

but it picks up on the really odd setup of the applications lens. Why on
earth do we use the categories as filters and not as categories?
It just makes much more sense, it looks better it makes applications
