Another option is to ditch the xbox and get something like the popcorn
hour (http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/) which as an optional
wireless dongle. It also supports full HD so you could fit a hard drive
into it and copy over HD from the network to play - although obviously

The 1080p keeps having to buffer.

The XBMC can't decode HD content, but it does upscale SD to HD if you
want to have a pseudo-HD experience on your nice HD telly.

Hi,
Having the XMBC a distance from the TV itself could be an issue.
Although there are those TV broadcasting things
(http://www.digisender.net/wireless-tech.php) where you plug in an
adapter into say a set-top box and it broadcastds over RF to the
reciever plugged into the TV. The link is to a fa
apart from rewiring i dont see how else those cables can be truly hidden.
And i dont wana be one of those people who when they show off their hd to
their friends they dont actually have the hd content to back it up so its
going to have to be able to play at least a good quality of content! I would

I had that problem, the solution was 2 part.
1. Get trunking and do the cable properly so that they are hidden.
2. Make sure there is lots of good
cables are a strict no as my evil has striclty instructed that she is sick
of the cables.
So i could place the xbox in a spare room with the pc and have another plug
adapter thing connected to the tv. would that work?
Maybe there are tv's available that have wifi already built into them! ?

If you look on the android market place there is an application called gMote
which let's you control windows, mac and even linux over wifi, this may be
what your looking for from the remote side.
Can't really help with the xbox connectivity since I have never used one
other than to play games.
On
XBMC has a web page built into it that can be used as a remote. So you
could connect your android to the wirless network and then use that to
control the xbox. I haven't used this for a long time though as it was a
bit rubbish - the official xbox remote was much better.
I don't know about Gmote
These are all very good ideas and no doubt i will experiment with them.
Indeed i have the option of keeping the xbox upstairs in the spare room and
beam it across to the tv ( i only wanted to put the xbox in the living room
so that it acts as a media centre)...
would that still work?

Hi,
I have a similar set up to the one you want.
I have an Ubuntu box sharing folders using SAMBA, connected to a wired
network, along with an old Xbox with XBMC. There's not much else to
it.
I'm not sure if there is anything like a wireless remote for a G1.
However the Xbox does have a python i
