The new behaviour makes the keyboard essentially unusable for me - tons
of apps have F-keys mapped in linux and having to press fn to use normal
f-keys just makes thinks very arkward - not to mention that having to
press fn-alt-ctrl-f1 to switch to a console is just ridiculous.

Thanks Mario - setting the /sys parameter works, however I can't get the
modprobe option to work. I already tried setting "option hid
pb_fnmode=2" in both /etc/modprobe.conf as well as
/etc/modprobe.d/options - neither had any effect on a reboot. Did
something change in u8.04 re. module parameters?

I've noticed the same behaviour with my "Logitech DiNovo Desktop Laser":
After boot both mouse and keyboard don't react and the "BUG at
drivers/hid/hid-core.c:780 implement()" appears several time in dmesg-output.
After unpluggin and re-plugging the dongle, mouse and keyboard react
normally.

I'm sad to report that the latest Ubuntu's kernel update broke Ogasawara's
package.
We've just ran the update manager in some machines, and all of them asked to
update the kernel. After that, many modules stopped being loaded, including
snd-hda-intel.
All these machines used a custom Ubuntu ISO
Thanks, Ogasawara. I'll be testing it in few minutes.
Those who for some reason do not want to install the test kernel above can just
disable syslog from running on system startup. You can do this by commenting
the uncommented lines in /etc/init/syslog.conf.

If the system is set up to use a separate partition for /home, fsck will
sometimes need more time to check the file system than upstart to boot
the system. If a users tries to log in, (s)he is confronted with lot of
strange error messages. The user's home directory

Sorry for mixing up package names. Of course the bug cannot be in
‘gnome-panel’ because I cannot use the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl] + [Alt]
+ [→] either. As I do not use Compiz, the bug seems to be in package
‘metacity’ resp. in its the default settings. If you use Compiz but want
to reproduce this b

Modern fonts are the default fonts for Xetex and should therefore be
automatically installed (as dependeny) when you install the ‘texlive-
xetex’ package.

In Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 there is only one active workspace. I think this
is a bug because if you really intended to activate only one virtual
desktop (workspace) the workspace switcher is useless and can be removed
from the panel.
