Dear Leann Ogasawara
While booting with quiet and splash removed, once in while it boots;
otherwise it hangs. I have photographed my screen in one such case
which is attached. Each time it hangs, a different screen appears. Pl
see whether you can do anything about it.

Remove the word 'quiet' from the kernel line and replace it with 'acpi=off'
while booting.

One more thing - I connected my modem via USB port and then I started
getting internet without any interruption. Pl therefore connect the
modem to your computer through USB port.

I was away and could not access my emails so far. The machine is still
hanging. But sometimes it is booting when I put "irqpoll acpi=off
noapic nolapic" with quiet removed. But if once it boots you do not
know when it will boot again.

I am quite happy to report that the issues are addressed and solved in
8.10 Alpha 5 - except that the TASK BAR INDICATES 'NO BATTERY'.
If you could sort out the battery indication problem it would be a
perfect 10/10.
