Dear Ogasawara Thanks a ton for the response. I tried Intrepid Alpha 4 from a Live CD. Here also, I had to disable (1) ACPI (2) quiet and (3) connect through USB for internet.
Without doing all the above, it gave the following msgs: (1) (196.856338) squashfs: version 3.3 (2007/10/31) Phillip Lougher (2) (242.989027) ACPI: Battery Slot (BAT1) (battery absent) and hung. Then I had to a hard-switch off and come out. I will wait for 4th Sept and test Alpha 5 and come back to you. Thanks once again.
