I noticed this behaviour only while connecting with xming.
It works fine while

Till, i consider myself a moderately advanced Linux user (since 1997),
thank you anyway for your step-by-step explanations. Kubuntu looks
somewhat different, but regardless wheather I use the Kubuntu tools or
Cups directly via Add Printer or Modiy printer in the Cups management
console on localhost
As this Bug is still new and no reply I want to stress that I have to
switch back to Windows as using the printer is impossible. This is a

When printint on a Color Laser Printer, the Color setting in the print

This is a Samsung CLP-610, the printer uses the ghostscript Foomatic/pxlcolor
driver which has the notion of "print
After some more investigation it turns out, that apparently this is due
to an unfortunate selection of (unaltered) default settings.
In the KDE4 system panel printing settings, the color Mode is set to
follow the "Print out Mode", which renders any color selection in the
Options >> pane of the KDE
Another possiblity is of course to gray out the color selection in the
Options >> print dialog, in case it can have no effect due to override
by a "Follow the "Print out Mode" in KDE4 system panel printing
settings.

Actually a later version of UEFI solved the problem again - I am
currently running 2.37 and kernel boots properly with secure boot
disabled.
However, even after intense web research I didn't find a way to update
the UEFI without Windows. So in case you have no Windows any more you
