I'm sorry, but I can't reproduce the bug myself. So I&
I'm also annoyed, although I guess one will get used to it after some
time. Another regression is that you can't see whether it's playing or
not, it was kind of neat.

Omer: IMHO it should simply start automatically on boot if it was
running last time you logged off. If you quit Empathy, it shouldn't
start again. That was how things used to work with IM, no conf, easy to
understand.
But this is standard session management, maybe it does so if you tick

I haven't gotten used to it yet, one click + mouse aim (which is harder
because full UI is not the first) + click is just so incredibly
irritating. Then hiding it again is also annoying because you have to
use the cross, which is in the opposite corner. Argh.

Also to understand why this is problem, not everyone's universe consists
of songs that each lasts one track. When you play one album at a time,
you have to bring up the full UI to select a new one. As you can imagine
this happens once each hour.

I don't know if this is the problem the OP is facing, for me I went to
the settings for startup applications in the GNOME control panel and
checked the Empathy entry. Then I reboot. When the desktop comes up
again, empathy is started up, but the status is offline. I have to

I disabled the usblp kernel module.
When running /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb under strace, I get:

Do you really think this is a reasonable request?
In any case, this is not productive. I'm sure there's still a bug (if
not several) in there, why wouldn't there be?, but it won't get fixed
this way (I test it when Karmic comes out, then you incomplete it again
with "please test next dev release",
Still think there's a bug, but don't care anymore

I had a similar problem. It turns out QGtkStyle tries to discover the
theme with GConf, found that out by strace'ing qtconfig-qt4.
So I installed gconf-editor to pull in GConf, then it worked. I agree
it's a bug in QGtkStyle - at the very least, it should spit out that it
can't load GConf.

it really looks promising. So if you are having
lots of problems you might want to give the next version a try. It
looks far better as far as I can tell.
