Not your fault, Andrew. It should be a straigh-forward matter to file a
bug report in Launchpad to SOMEBODY not NOBODY. I see something lacking
here in Launchpad bug tracking system.

SOMEBODY in the Ubuntu team, please, please take responsibility for
this!

You wrote earlier:
"Regarding why we didn't get an official release, I'd imagine it's because the
Openchrome driver is needed by more than just the HP2133; while the patch might
fix things for us, we've no way to tell that it doesn't break things horribly
for everyone else. I'd think it would be more likely to be released to Jaunty
once the patch has been accepted in some form by the Openchrome devs -- as far
as I can see, none of the upstream devs have commented on it."

I appreciate what you are saying, however, let us take a little look at
the simple FACTS:

1. This bug was first reported by Ben McCann as early as 2009-02-20! - Not a
recent bug.
2. This problem did NOT exist in Ubuntu 8.10. - Therefore very frustrating to
experience when you install the latest version of Ubuntu.
3. Searching the Ubuntu Forum for help or a solution I discovered that many
people are reporting identical or similar problems which didn't exist in U8.10
on all sorts of hardware, not just the HP2133 we own. - Should be of serious
concern to the developers!
4. Ubuntu is aspiring to be a mainstream operating system, appealing to the
average user in the street. However, the average user cannot be expected to
handle problems like this, he would likely leave Ubuntu behind and return to
his previous OS. I think I speak for most, if not all, of us in this forum when
I say that we want Ubuntu to become THE premier OS! Therefore, issues, like the
one at hand, need to be dealt with promptly and professionally otherwise I fear
that Ubuntu cannot switch from the perception of being a "nerdy" OS to a
mainstream OS.

Just my 2 bits worth. Again, thank you for your assistance, Andrew, very
much appreciated.

Ole
