I'm not original poster either, but I also have the problem with non-
working suspend and hibernate with xubuntu 8.10 beta on my HP compaq
nc8430 laptop; when I choose either alternative from the 'quit' window
in xfce, the window disappears, but nothing else happens (as if I had
chosen 'cancel').
My suspicion of an interaction between the e1000 ethernet and a junk
switch(see my comment on 2008-07-15) may have been correct. I replaced
the old switch with a new higher-quality one and cannot reproduce the
problems. In my opinion this is still a bug that must be addressed as we

Same for me with my Linksys WMP54G v4.1 which uses the rt61pci driver.
Manually setting the rate to 54Mbit as in misiu_mp's original bug report
does work for me though (well, at least it manages to max out my 10mbit
connection when I do so it's good enough for me).

I'd like to confirm that this bug actually exists, but only for specific
installation conditions—that is, systems installed via Wubi. You can

I have a similar problem, which by the look of the kernel backtraces, I think
is caused by the same bug. The wireless on my Thinkpad T60(8744 5bu) does not
work after reboot and requires that the module be reloaded. The kernel
messages suggest that I use "irqpoll".

More information in this bug:
I'm not 100% sure, but it seems evolution tries to add the meeting to a
calendar not belonging to the users calendar.
My thoughts on that is that trying to add a meeting to a calendar that
the user does not have "write" access to, might perhaps generate this
bug?

I installed linux-backports-modules-jaunty(2.6.28.11.14), The kernel
errors(attached) were gone as was the symptomatic performance problem.
There are issues with the backports ath9k module(periodic loss of
connection) which are just as trying as this
