i had this problem also. I managed to fix by purging esound, esound-clients,
pulsaaudio-module-gconf and pulseaudio. After that I gave the computer a hard
reset and ... as if by miracle, IT WORKS.

As I said before, with the new version I still have this problem (but
not related to wpa or suspend/resume). When the system boots I get right
away 100% cpu and must kill NetworkManager. I tried reinstalling the
packages for NM several times and it doesn't work. I'm alone on that

I've seen the same problem on Ubuntu "Gutsy", MySQL backend, with the
following workaround:
Go to Tools -> Preferences.
Movie Details tab.
In the Defaults area, make sure none of the drop-down lists are set to N/A.

With hardy alpha-2 installed to disk, suspending to ram works, but
restarting results in a very dim desktop - seems that the backlight has
been set to minimum. You can get the backlight back by logging out and
back in again.
