Well, since recent auto-updates and some playing with Firestarter,
wireless vpn connections work fine through NM. Disabling the firewall
seems essential for the VPN connection to work..... For wired vpn
connection I use the OpenVPN config GUI, which also works fine. I could
imagine that cleaning out resolv.conf contents is a measure to avoid
accidential DNS calls outside the tunneled connection, with resulting
breach of security. NB: I am no programmer either, just a VEP.
