I'm facing the same issue. ThinkPad T14 with AMD CPU (and hence

for some time now the graphics (not the whole system!) randomly crash;
failure to wake up from sleep; or, as described in this issue, the
external screen wakes up,
really sad that this does not get fixed within months now...

As you note this is fixed as of Encode 2.88 (but see the discussion in
https://github.com/dankogai/p5-encode/pull/68), so I'm marking this bug
as "fix released"

@jakoblell, I had hoped for the same solution, but it does _not_ work
for me that way. Even when starting it manually, it will show its icon
in the dock, and after a while, the same problem happens for me.

Hm, for me it's not intermittent at all. It happens as soon as I've sent
a single message using Thunderbird; Gnome Shell simply becomes unable to
keep track of Thunderbird windows, and the window switcher can't launch
any more.

Can someone explain why this bug seems to be such low priority? It makes
using the Gnome Shell nearly impossible for anyone who uses Thunderbird,
as it stops any meaningful switching between windows, and massively

Not sure whether the upstream issue, which is several months old, is the
same. The present one seems to have kicked in for several users at the
same time at the end of June 2021.
It looks like it is somehow connected to Thunderbird.
Also see this comment, for one way of reproducing it:

while after logging in, but then stops entirely (that is, it does
nothing; the switcher overlay fails to appear, and switching between
windows does not work). I made _no_ configuration change, and Alt-Tab

licensecheck depends on libpod-constants-perl (apparently installed),
which at version 0.19-2 in hirsute depends on libpod-parser-perl (so,
should also be installed already). Incomplete upgrade to hirsute
perhaps?
