Sorry, I am a newbie to Xubuntu and having a hard time finding around
through the names of the different packages. If system-config-printer is
standard in Xubuntu, then that must be the one I used. I configured the
printer via a submenu to the application menu.

Umm. I really don't know what to add. I wanted to try to play an audio
CC and it wouldn't mount. As there is no support at this time for Danish
(or any???) Apple USB white keyboards, I had to go to the terminal and
use the 'eject' command to get the tray to push out on my G5 single
(PowerMac 9.1).

to upgrade from Dapper to Edgy. If I am only able to get a Dapper CD to
validate, is there a way I can just upgrade the kernel to Edgy until the
kinks in the "full" upgrade get ironed out?

Ubuntu 6.10 'Edgy Eft' has gone candidate and yet there still does not
appear to be a solution to the thermal fan issue for my G5 single
PowerMac 9.1. I still have fans that run like jet engines when I boot
into Ubuntu. This will be the third version of Ubuntu that does not
support lower-end PPC64
Tags may have been added, but it still isn't totally sorted with the
latest packages. I am now getting sound again out of the external
speakers, but the internal speaker still plays sound and is much louder
than the external speakers output.

This may be related to Bug 27269. There have been a lot of changes
lately, so I haven't really been able to follow how the windfarm issues
have been lumped together. There was also a claim that this had been
fixed in Alpha "Edgy Eft" I can however confirm that the problem is
still there.

I just tried Dapper 6.061 (xubuntu) on my G5 single (PowerMac 9.1) and
the same problems are there that go all of the way back to Breezy Badger
(5.10):
1) Freezes at startup due to (among other things???) sound driver.
2) Lack of thermal fan control.
