I just tried Dapper 6.061 (xubuntu) on my G5 single (PowerMac 9.1) and
the same problems are there that go all of the way back to Breezy Badger
(5.10):

1) Freezes at startup due to (among other things???) sound driver.
2) Lack of thermal fan control.

This has been going on forever.

Are there any developers out there listening, or has Ubuntu given up on
the PPC platform?

How can you release new "versions" of Ubuntu and derivatives, without
addressing the issues on "newer" Macs (ie Macs that are only 2-3 years
old)?

Not everyone feels comfortable with compiling a new kernel or see the
need, when Ubuntu "claims" that it supports the PPC architecture.

Let's try to get these issues sorted guys.
