Does the Mouse settings use the syndaemon under the hood? If yes, that
could be the reason of the problem, as enabling the syndaemon with the

In the buggy state, the mouse highlight GUI elements lower than the mouse
pointer actually is.
So, for example (with random numbers) if pointer.x = 100 & pointer.y = 100,
