Hi Daniel. I've just carried out a fresh install of Ubuntu 17.10. This
problem is affecting me. I can log in using X but not Wayland. As I can log
into X, this hasn't stopped me but thought I'd let you know, I'm also affected.
Since it looks as though you've provided the fix, I assume this

Any idea how one can now find a DVB channels now that it will no longer

VLC 2.0.1 doesn't seem to have the facility to scan for DVB-T channels.
Just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 with new version of VLC, but unable to use
TV card. Is there some new feature that should be used? Has support
for TV cards ended in VLC?

Hi Pablo,
Thanks for the reply. I still have no solution. I think it could be
xine that's causing the issue. That is the sound and video player used
by Me-Tv. Good to know it's not just me with the problem. I'm in New
Zealand

Hi Hezy,
Many thanks for your reply. I am in New Zealand but don't know of
anyone who uses Me-Tv here, so you could very well be right. VLC player
will play back recorded Me-Tv programmes just fine, but Me-Tv has no
sound. If I attempt to play the recorded programme through Xine, the
same sound

Hi Michael,
Many thanks for coming back to help. I feel I'm now beginning to work
my way round me-tv. I restarted doing all the things suggested
previously, recognising that I needed to change channels at least to
affect the audio driver change. Also, thanks for letting me know how to

Hi Michael,
I have slowly worked through the items you suggest. I can confirm that
Me TV has streams and shows 0: eng (MPEG 4). I then went into changing
the audio driver by selecting each of the options away from ALSA on the
drop down list. I did not restart Me-Tv each time I made a selection,
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the response. I found I had not loaded "xine-ui". I did so
from the software centre and have run the application. It works just
fine and will load a video file with both video and sound. I guess
that's a little different than receiving a signal from a TV card, but
