I think there are two possible solutions:
* Nautilus should interact with HAL to inhibit the suspend process while

That's true that if a program is sending too many notifications, it's the
program's fault. However it makes sense to prevent this kind of things to
happen because the notifications are system wide and there are bugs.
I think that a notification system is quite different from a window manager. In

I really don't understand why there are still these kind of files under
/etc/acpi while there is the the new infrastructure under /usr/lib/pm-

Well, suspend continues to fail sometimes, but I don't think its a gpm issue,
ie, gpm doesn't crash anymore.

Well actually I did a workaround that stopped working after last kernel update.
With my workaround the module stopped loading at all.

I've found another problem: the system take more time to boot. It hangs for a
while in "loading modules".
I'm using iwl3945.

I have an asus A8JS laptop. It hibernate and suspend nicely but after an
hibernate the r8169 network card stop working.
eth0 disappears from ifconfig and from /sys/class/net.
Reloading the module doesn't fix the problem.

I've done a little workaround to make suspend/hibernate work with the iwl3945
driver.
First of all I've put in /etc/default/acpi-support MODULES_WHITELIST="iwl3945"
Secondly I've added this script under /etc/acpi/resume.d

I'm confirming this too but only on suspend and hibernate.

some people said that the iwl3945.ko was in Gutsy.
I think it should be in this package because there is the ucode for that
driver.

I've just upgraded to gutsy.
There are two different modules for asus laptops: asus_acpi and asus-laptop.
asus-laptop is the new version of asus_acpi and it should be removed.
asus_acpi is enabled by default and so the laptop isn't recognized.
However adding 'asus_laptop' at the bottom of /etc/mod
About Fn-F6 I don't think it's a annoying bug.. with the latest asus-acpi the
brightness applet work.
Well, I think that's too much work for a key.
It's possible to fix it by default?
