This is four open Chrome windows that were minimized. Then I clicked on
the Chrome icon in the Unity bar to see the previews of the minimized
windows.

But think about what the default is:
Two monitors
Launcher on left monitor.
Launcher disabled on right monitor.
Now move your mouse across the empty desktop. It will pointlessly get
stuck on the magnet between the two monitors.
Nobody is going to want
Right, why do I waste my time. It is obviously more important to have a
magnet effect for some dialog placer that I've never used and didn't
know exists. To support this feature I have to have my mouse get stuck
every single time it crosses between screens - like about 5,000 times a

I have a web app that closes the browser window when it is done. If this
window is minimized while it closes Unity gets really confused about the
state of which Chrome windows are minimized and which are open. Unity
probably has a list of minimized Chrome windows -
Attached is a pulseaudio log.
It covers the initial start of pulse. Pulse comes up with the correct
output, SPDIF, but the volume is max (ie not restored to where I left
it).
After pulse is running I touched the volume slider in sound control on
the desktop. As soon as the volume slider is touche
where can I modify the start of pulseaudio so that these instructions

go into suspended mode you can't get them out. Power cycling the

I just managed to get pulse git head building. He has taken a completely
different approach to fixing this. The code was already in git.
If you start the pavucontrol app there is a new tab for Configuration.
Under that tab you can choose from a drop down...
analog in + sdif out
stereo out
...

camera. The description appears to be wrong but the sound is coming
out the S/PDIF correctly.

that when you have both a motherboard audio device and a USB one, they
initialize in random order and the first one that initializes becomes

I have pulseaudio-esound-compat installed. I went through all of the
tabs in Sound Preferences and there isn't a choice for "use sound
server". There is a choice for 'Enable software sound mixing (ESD)'
which I have selected. I had this selected before and pulse wasn't
loading.

For example, I have motherboard sound. It starts off as ALSA device 0.
Now I plug in a webcam, it becomes ALSA device 1 because it has an
integrated mic. Everything is working fine.

zd1211rw developer has informed me that softmac can't set the essid/key
without the link being up. All of the other distributions (except
Debian) have been modified to bring the link up first.

to allow essid/key to be set before the link is up either. So you are

Could this be an explanation of where the disconnect is? If you set
essid or key in other wireless drivers while they are down, they
remember this fact and then process these when the link comes up.
zd1211rw is trying to execute the essid/key set immediately and
returning an error that the link is
