Public bug reported: Enabling the ATI proprietary driver on this system results in a system that hangs at boot. I had to use recovery mode to remove the fglrx packages and switch back to mesa libgl.
I suspect this is some sort of install problem aournd KMS fighting with the ATI drivers. It doesn't appear to me as if the ATI drivers got started properly.
