I haven't had the time to test Hardy, yet. However, I've done some
testing with Ubuntu Gutsy. The situation has improved significantly.
Apart from the "media player" key, all the keys seem to work now. I have
not tested the "Wifi" nor the "External Monitor" Fn2 key, though.

Since none of the other opengl applications seem to have problems, I
think this is a bug in spiftacity. Status set to "Needs Info" and

Ok, so when booting ubuntu with splash screen, the computer freezes up. When
booting it without the splashscreen, it looks like #22985
Two possible causes for this:
1. usplash doing bad things
2. kernel console framebuffer interfering with X.
Judging from past personal experience utilising console

The "X failing to start" section lists some tricks that might get you to the
console and lets you save important diagnostics data. Without having the
Xorg.0.log file it is very difficult to investigate the problem.

I think this is problem is not related to #28925, changing xorg.conf to
use the "radeon" driver instead of "ati" would not have helped
otherwise. This seems to be related to not properly detecting the gfx
chipset in the first place. The Xorg.0.log suggests that something goes

have you done "sudo nvidia-glx-config enable" ?
your xorg.conf might require changes which should be made by executing the
command specified above. Please attach your xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Make sure the nvidia kernel module is loaded, the command "lsmod" or "sudo
lsmod" will tell you
That's normally not a problem, as modern hard disks park the head
automatically when the power is cut. Have you experienced data
corruption or similar symptoms, at all? Do the filesystems on the drive
get checked (fsck) regularly during bootup? I'd suggest installing
smartmontools in order to find

1. freeze during boot
2. X not starting in the internal display but on the external VGA output.

1. try adding the options "irqpoll" or "noapic nolapic" to the boot line in the
CDs boot menu, check for bugs that relate to

Testing the Ubuntu Edgy Eft RC desktop CD discovered the following bug:
I have a Targa Traveller 826 which has a Mobility Radeon X700. Ubuntu is
currently suffering from a bug that makes it impossible to run X on the
internal display when using the radeon driver included in

I just run ubuntu edgy rc on my Targa Traveller 826. The bug still
persists. I attached my Xorg.0.log, as well.

[x700] fails to infer lvds for primary connector on acer ferrari 4005
I've run a test with the Ubuntu 6.06.1 Desktop amd64 livecd. The
following keys seem to work now:
Fn + F7 - Audio Volume Down : keycode 174 (xev)
Fn + F8 - Audio Volume Up : keycode 176 (xev)
Fn + F9 - Audio Mute/Unmute : keycode 160 (xev)
"IE Key" - Start Webbrowser : keycode 178 (xev)
