Sorry, wrong link. This site is no longer updated, so if it is a newer

I will add mine in case mine and nitto's aren't exactly the same. The
"dv6700" covers a lot of HP laptops. I also added the workaround here so
that /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM would be populated:

I forgot to mention that this is some kind of bug/conflict with some HP
laptops because the DSDT was compiled using Microsofts home brewed
compiler. The Linux kernel/acpi do not like it. The aml compiler(iasl)
in my how to was made by Intel, and is supposed to be universal.

I just stumbled across this bug. I have a HP dv6815nr laptop with the
MCP67 chipset. I was able to get rid of this problem by applying a
custom DSDT file.

Thanks for answering. I wasn't sure what package to tie this to since
the cx18 module is developed by Hauppauge, and is included in the kernel
by default. Linux may be the best package. This is a known issue
according to the release notes from Hauppauge for cx18 and the nvidia
module. I have writte

Well, I managed to fix mine. There is a conflict with the new cx18
module in 2.6.27 and the nvidia binary driver. The cx18 is the driver
for Hauppauge TV tuner cards. I have a Hauppauge 1600, so it was being
loaded at boot. See more here:

I also agree that there needs to be some way to fix this when it doesn't
work. It is going to be impossible to make every piece of hardware work
flawlessly by the final release. In the rare occasion something goes
haywire, you can't expect a new user to edit config files by hand.
