This only works for version 2.0.x kernels. For version 2.2.x, you have to
do a little something different, well, at least on mine. =)

I'm afraid you'll have to wait for kernel 2.4, which will be released sometime
in Nov or Dec...

So, I managed to get Linux to recognise my ALN-101 NIC, by installing
without it and then adding it afterwards, but I've got some weirdness
happening when I try to get out onto my own LAN, or to the net.
My network is connected to the internet via ADSL on a Win98 box running
Sygate. I couldn't g
How about how to save a file to a floppy disk?
I downloaded a file the other day...and I had no clue as to how to save it
to a disk...I know the floppy was mounted (and do you have to do that
everytime you reboot?...another question.)
I could see the file in the file manager but there seemed to

Thank you for all your responses so far... they have been of great
assistance.
However, I am still having a problem. What follows are captures of
'ifconfig', 'route', and 'arp'. I can connect and interact with the
Internet through my Windows98 partition without issue. The linux
partition still re

Use mtools. It's easier than mounting stuff, and most likely you won't
mind using a dos formatted floppy.

Hi all.
I'm thinking about writing a "New User's Guide to Linux" (to be released
under an appropriate open-content license, of course :).
I'm hacking together an outline for it at the moment, and I would like
to know what you think such a Guide should include. Input from users of

PPP!!
That's the first thing I wanted to figure out, but I had RedHat 5.2 - now
most distributions come with KDE or Gnome, so they got easy stuff like
kppp or gnome-ppp to work with.
What I find funny though, is that at first netconf's ppp dial-up
configuration didn't work. Maybe it was the upgr
I am new like in finally last week I got it working, so I will take some
time and give you my list of things I had trouble figuring ou, and things I
still do not understanf fully.
