netscape should out of the box, run java fine by default, but if it
doesn't get up to edit -> prefrences -> advanced and then make sure the
appropriate boxes are enabled.

It would attach itselft to binaries and propagate much like win/dos
based viruses.
However the only damage it could do would be to files that it owned.
