The new list software doesn't even insert the proper Reply-To line,
so to reply to the list you have to type its address by hand!

attached for both, or change ethernet card :)

Gosh I dont remember how to do it offially with
On Suns the hostid is actually encoded on a EPROM chip in a socket on
the motherboard (though it is actually possible to switch these chips
from similar hardware). It is designed to be non-spoofable, though there
is a fairly easy way with dynamic libraries to hack it (not that I'm
advocating this)
The quoted message on the end of my last message wasn't the original
message I was trying to quote, though it was an interesting argument
internally about Linux in regards to one of our few dissenters.
Sorry about that...

Didn't Intel have a solution that's built-into the cpu chip?

Yes, but it was generally considered evil for privacy reasons and is
often disabled. It also is only in the newer chipsets so you couldn't
guarantee it to be consistently available.

The intel CPUID instruction was designed with the idea of providing a serial
no. for cpu's, however it's easily to get hold of even when it's switched
off. It's present in P2's later than the 266 Klamath and (IIRC) on all P2
Notebooks. It's also present on all PIII's and looks like there's no sign

Good! Mailing lists shouldn't overwrite Reply-To headers.

In the abiword-0.7.9-3-i386.rpm that is up on Rawhide,
all files installed in /usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/ and
/usr/share/AbiSuite/icons/ are mod 0640 but they need to be
0644 if non root users are to run the program.

Dear User Community,
As many of you have noticed, changes were made recently to the way the
redhat-devel-list is managed within Red Hat. The changes were made as
part of a migration plan to move all Red Hat managed lists to a new
server running the GNU Mailman mailing list manager software (see

The devel list seams to be the best place to test it though.

I have two listed, just in case, but I think only the second one actually
works (I added it later because the first didn't).

In the quest to get a WaveLAN card to work on my 6.2beta laptop, it appears that I've
gone one step forward and two steps back. I've got the WaveLAN card working, but I've
lost cardbus support (Xircom RealPort card).

I don't think RedHat has released 6.3 yet. If you're looking for ISO
distributions of various flavors of Linux, though, take a look at
www.linuxberg.com or tucows. (I think the two sites are one and the
same)
You will find about 12 or 15 different distributions of Linux there
