[RE-wrenches] Citel arrestors

2008-10-27 Thread Nicholas Ponzio
Folks, A fellow wrench referred me to the Citel brand surge arrestors. http://www.citelprotection.com/citel/SolarPV/pv_products.htm They have several models for PV applications. Does anyone have experience with these and where can I find them? Thanks, -Nik -- Nicholas Ponzio Building Energy 157

Our local inspector defines metallic raceway as metal conduit without preassembled conductors, such as FMC (greenfield) or EMT. MC is a cable assembly and only allowed from the first point of disconnect onward. Kirk Herander Vermont Solar Engineering 802.863.1202 fax 802.863-7908 NABCEP(tm) Certif

Hello All - I have a Grid tie proposal that included a SWWP Sky Stream Wind Generator that I did back in June. I have since heard varied reports on the inverters reliability. Last report from a vender was very positive, SWWP had been very prompt in dealing with the software issue. I am inte

Hi Peter, Hate to say this, but this is common in many battery based systems. Not the problem you encountered specifically, but battery based systems are much more complex and take a lot of time and energy in general. Numerous return visits are the norm. Our lead tech has a lap top to download the

I have seen MC cable used for DC circuits and I don't think it meets the requirements of 690.31(E) for a metallic raceway. I don't think the metal cladding on MC cable qualifies as a raceway any more than the plastic sheathing on romex does, but I've heard differing opinions on this. Last I checked

Normally, I have good things to say about Xantrex and their GT and XW class inverters. I personally replaced four GT units a while ago as they dealt with their "capacitor" problem. This post is about the XW product. We installed a XW6048 with two charge controllers, a 4,200 W-dc PV array and a 5

Marv, I understand that you're a respected industry veteran and all, but I don't think it's appropriate for manufacturer's representatives to be telling the rest of us on the list what we should be allowed to say. This list was started after all for installers and specifiers of equipment to sh

[RE-wrenches] FMC vs MC Cable

2008-10-27 Thread Peter Parrish
On new construction, we like to run MC cable throughout the building shell, from the PV modules to the inverter. We of course include a properly rated DC disconnect before or just after penetrating the shell and use protection plates when we run through studs. And we probably will need to add labe

Greg, The 200W, 96 cell inverter is CSA listed to UL1741, and is on the CEC list of eligible inverters. Obviously there are more products on the way, but I'm not at liberty to discuss the details right now. We do keep the website VERY up to date. Your results are very much inline with our
