Hi Leah! Of the wooden bike boxes I've seen out there, that one is a pretty good looking one. I personally would forgo the included mounting hardware and get a nice sturdy front rack to mount it on, either using xxl zip ties or toe straps. A couple of Riv irish straps couple be a stylish option

Check his tires for sizing, the 52cm Clem is likely 650B? Having an official rack that this straps to looks far better/stronger/heartier than those long, untriangulated stays they call mounting hardware. It's the way I would go. He should also be aware that weight on the front will effect handl

Maybe not small zipties, but I just bought some huge heavy-duty ties from Ace Hardware which might be strong enough. Toe straps are another thought..they're pretty strong and you can pull them very tight. Whichever method you use, I agree that mounting the crate on a rack is the way to go. --

I will not get into the aesthetic (actually i like the wood...) my concern is on the mounting, i think a rack would be more secure, never a big fan of the stem plates, but think they would work better with a wire rack. the other thing he may not be thinking about is that the wooden box will be

Bamboo basket with a Starbucks cup holder may be an original and fabulous idea. It is, however, at best a subset of a hundred plus years of using beefy wood crates for hauling. Which is neither here nor there. The basket should mount fine, though the stem attachment may need adjustment to work
