Hullo All,
I just got my new MUSA shorts in the plaid Boosucker fabric. These
are way nice. I like them much more than the other material. Quite
possibly the nicest riding shorts ever.
Way to go Grant!
I know they will sell out fast and they will never make them again.
That's the Riv. way...
One group of riders were surprised that I had no derailleurs and
another laughed at my anachronistic Brooks saddle - they were on
carbon fiber bikes.

Greetings,
Turns out Jim's thinking was spot on. Today the mating call occurred
again despite having re lubed the bottom bracket and pedals. Today
took the wheel out and removed freewheel to get to inside of hub.

I have been following the tour on Crazyguy, as I have some rough
notions of doing a prolonged UK/France tour if I can ever get away
from work. A lot of good information in your account.

Three hours? Or less? Oh Steve, shame, shame. I do it, and my jobs usually
require going back and undoing something, I did hastily and wrongly, then
doing it different and right a second time, and I swear it takes me no more
than an hour for a pair of them, Honjo, VO, or Berthoud.

Great ride out to a mtn peak I've always wanted to check out. Pretty steep
and sandy at the end, so it was a push-a-bike sort of a ride.
Perfect weather, and I was off work today. Great combination! 1,600 ft of
climbing over four miles sort of fun!

It shouldn't be. You are a competent wrench, I am an all-thumbs hack.
You have

I don't think that the process of drilling your own fenders is too
difficult. It does, however, merit some care in getting everything
right. The old adage - "measure twice, cut once" - is certainly
applicable. Look at photographs of bikes with Honjo fenders carefully
to ascertain the correct pl

I would add one caveat to the installation process. The otherwise
good instructions on the jetensha web site show a single screw in the
back of the rear fender. Peter White warns that the fender can break
unless you use a pair of screws and my personal experience confirms
that. Later Hiroshi at
Beth: drilling the VO fenders, and the rest of the installation process, is
not a big deal. I've installed three pairs of metal fenders, and only the
first set (Berthoud stainless) took more than an hour, because I was new to
it and didn't have good instructions. FWIW, since I am always impatient,

If the 32s are tight under plastic fenders you might have trouble with the

YMMV.
I've used SKS, Cascadias, VO's and Berthouds. I like the Berthouds best of
all, even though getting them adjusted over 28's on my Rambouillet w

Riv is selling the new wide jaw brakes. I asked if this would let me get tires

Hi Beth, sounds like your Rivvy will be lovely! I can speak to the fender

working on bikes, it's not frustrating, just time consuming. Drilling isn't

I should have mentioned the threadless part. I was tired of trying to hunt down

Clive,
Excellent blog. Very enjoyable and informative read. Really makes me
want to get back to England sometime (preferably on the bike). Also,
the few pictures of Boston (MA) made me homesick for the Boston area
(even with the snow and all - I've obviously been gone a long time).

I just finished a 5 day tour on the Quickbeam from London to North
East England. I used 67" most of the way, but changed to 39" for the
North Yorkshire Moors. The QB is a really nice bike for extended
credit card touring and the ability to reduce the gear inches makes
some steep climbs possible...
Beautiful. Agree with earlier comments -- nice spec for a go-fast
bike. (Love the longer chain stays.) I'm sure others exist, but this
is the first Riv I have seen with a threadless headset. Original spec
or part of the rebuild?
