When I setup cups, I just tell it to print to the default printer, and it
prints to the cups printer.
I did not have to do any configuration of the individual applications after
I got cups to work.
Try and print something to the default printer and see if it comes out on

Look in your /etc/mail/sendmail.mc file.
It will have a line you have to comment out to have it accept mail.
It says something like, if you want to accept email then comment this line
out.
