Hi, I do have a Dell Latitude with Maestro 3 sound card, that's what lspci tells me. sndconfig recognizes it but hangs when playing the test sound. Also a cat /dev/dsp results in "chip lockup" messages. No sound. Worked perfectly under 7.3 which was upgraded to 8.0. Hints anyone? Bernd

I've installed my true type fonts in /usr/share/fonts/local installed them as indicated in the Release notes. They appear in all the desktop applications, but do not appear in the font selection lists in open office or mozilla or galeon. I can't find an answer to this problem in the documenta

Hello, I like using gkrellm to monitor system activities. Now, I would like to have it always on top, but I can't seem to be able to access the usual menu where I can choose "Always on top". I'm using the KDE desktop with latest updates (3.0.4) from rawhide. Is there any way to solve that problem?

RPM handling of %{_sysconfdir}

In /var/lib/rpm/macros %{_sysconfdir} is defined as %{_prefix}/etc. Does rpm handle a prefix of /usr differently? I would assume that a prefix of /usr/local/ would define _sysconfdir as /usr/local/etc, but a prefix of /usr would define _sysconfdir as /etc. Am I correct in this assumption? --

junkbuster vs. privoxy

I have been using junkbuster for a few years, and notice privoxy is installed by default in RedHat 8.0. From reading the privoxy man page(s), I see that it is based on junkbuster. Is there a reason I would want to start using this instead of junkbuster? Dan Liston
