Hi, I do have a Dell Latitude with Maestro 3 sound card, that's what lspci tells me. sndconfig recognizes it but hangs when playing the test sound. Also a cat /dev/dsp results in "chip lockup" messages. No sound. Worked perfectly under 7.3 which was upgraded to 8.0. Hints anyone? Bernd

In /var/lib/rpm/macros %{_sysconfdir} is defined as %{_prefix}/etc. Does rpm handle a prefix of /usr differently? I would assume that a prefix of /usr/local/ would define _sysconfdir as /usr/local/etc, but a prefix of /usr would define _sysconfdir as /etc. Am I correct in this assumption? --
