you can make partition accordingly and dont use the
partition which have badsector.
E.g. 40 gb hdd
Bad sector at 20gb to 30 gb then make partion as 0 t0
19gb, 19gb to 31gb (Dont use it), 31gb to 40 gb.

Did you see the "portmap" service up & running properly ?
If not you may need to enable that service first.
Other serivice "nfsd" will require on server side.
can you see "nfsd" module in "lsmod" output, I mean is the FS module
get inserted in kernel ? if not then try to get correct versio

1) both nfs and portmap service running on server
2) Your NFS client should know the nfs version 2 or 3 if it is wrong
it won't work at all
