ope you get an answer to this question Mary - and by the way, your messages

I recall lengthy threads on this subject some time ago, and it all seems to

There's another program called Exact Audio Copy, I think. This is said to
rip Cds very accurately.
Suggest you do a Google for this program.

I'm curious myself if anyone can suggest an accessible player that

Hey Terese. If you're looking for quantity, I know for sure that the Ipod

haven't used one, but lots of people on this list own that player.

Hi Mari,
1. You can open the Sound dialog by opening the start menu and typing sound.
The first match will probably be sound recorder, but you can just arrow down
one to sound, and then press enter.
2. Press ctrl+tab to move to the recording page, where there's a list of
devices. Select a dev
i would also like to take notice that the plex talk pocket is far above what

let's say that with the plextalk you don't have to do any conversion of the
files you record with any proprietary software, and the stream only records
in monaural. they are both good for what they are designed to do.

I am trying to digitize 4 cassette tapes. However, I have to sit and listen to
it while this is happening. This is very annoying, especially if I'm trying to
get on with work. Is there a way to digitize the tape without having to listen
to it? I am using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS, Goldwave 5.25
I have an IRiver h10 20 gb and it works fine

CDex can also do this.
1. Open the settings window with the f4 key.
2. Switche to the "CD Drive" tab.
3. Shift+Tab to the "Ripping Method" combo box.
4. Switch to one of the Paranoia modes. Personally, I use "Paranoia, Full"
whenever I encounter an error.
5. Tab to the "OK" button, and activate it
What formats does this play; does it work out of the box and how much is it
and where do you get it from?

I do think the Plextor Pocket is going to turn out to be the best option by
far for those wanting high quality pro level recording in stereo. the only
thing you could want that it doesn't have is 24 bit epth recording which
would be good particularly for music.
I aught to go and look at the spec
I would suggest that the best comparison to make is that the Plextalk is
a very good recorder that has some playback functionality, and the
Stream is a very good player that has some recording functionality. As
has been said elsewhere. they are both very good for what they have been
designed to do.

It talks with rockbox installed, therefore most formats are
supported (mp3, ogg, wave, mpc, ...) but not ones like Audible
format or drm protected music.
I've found it on Ebay, paid about 70 pounds.

I suspect you are using Windows xp or earlier. Go into the properties of
your sound card and choose play. In that dialog, you may find options to
check or uncheck what channels play. Make sure line in is unchecked. Also,
in the recording properties, make sure line in is checked, not anything

The iPod Nano looks like it comes in a 8GB and a 16GB capacity at the
moment. Remember, it's the iPod Nano 4th Generation that has the talking

It looks like the iPod Classic has a 120GB version at the moment, but I
don't think it's accessible.
I got the above information from
it acts like it has a limiter, which you can't control. the only thing you
can do is set the machine from auto to manual. as Neal has said, it is a

As I stated on another list, I must also agree with you. I don't think the
two devices are really in composition. They are meant for two slightly
different segments of the market. But I do believe plextor has come up with
