The best thing anyone can do at this point - if at all possible - is to
uninstall iTunes and use another piece of software to play audio.
I've been working on a clients computer for a good while trying to fix
problems with iTunes and - if it weren't for the fact that its required
in this

the check boxes to appear so i can copy selected artists. I am using
window-eyes. Do you have any suggestions?

There seems to be some confusion between iTunes the software and the
iTunes division at Apple. The company puts all its music efforts in
this division, whether or not it calls them iTunes. When it bought
