So when you plug it in, you get that initial dialog that Windows throws
up asking you what to do. If you cancel out of that dialog box, you
still can't access the Zen Stone with Windows Explorer? I hate to ask,
but are you sure you're bringing up the right device in My Computer? If

No, In fact it does play if I select the play option. But I cannot
access it using my computer o r windows explorer.

Have you copied any music to the Zen Stone yet? If not, what music is it
playing, the samples that come with the player maybe?
I'm a bit confused as to what you're doing. Are you saying that when you
plug the Zen Stone in, you get a dialog that gives you several options,
including "play music"?
screen less Zen Stone, and that's the one I've

Well, a quick search with Yahoo! says that the Zen Stone doesn't support
lossless formats. It does look like Windows Media Player, and maybe
Creative Media Lite, automatically converts lossless formats into a
lossy file format when copying the files to the Zen Stone.

it might not even be necessary, i mean if you just wanna transfer files to
it. but then again maybe there's something I'm completely missing out on.

The Zenstone and the Zenstone Plus will play WMA and MP3 files. That's
it, no wave files or any other format.
Any speakers will work with them. Creative even makes a small battery
powered speaker system for them but I've never seen it.

I find it as reliable as human error will allow! :-) It can take a while
though. If I'm listening to a particularly long file, I'll stop
listening periodically to save a bookmark. This comes in handy when the
battery runs down. I'll also try to recharge frequently so as not to
lose my place whe
You can fast forward and rewind in a file with the Zenstone. While
useful the feature doesn't seem to be completely reliable for a blind
person. Often when activating either of these features I manage only to
skip forward and back one file. The same sort of thing happens when turning
it on

If you go to http://us.creative.com/getstarted/Zenstone/welcome.asp and
download the starter pack this will include Creative Media Lite. Sorry,

You'll find them on the Creative labs site. Look under media players and

You really don't need any software or JAWS scripts to use the zen
stone, in fact I really don't understand why people think this is
necessary. If you have the one gig model, there is absolutely no
need for any additional software. Simply use the USB cable to charge
the unit when plugging it
hi. If you have a little bit of usable vision, as I do, the scripts
aren't even necessary, because an orange light flashes while the zen
stone is charging, and a green light stays on after it's charged. I
