Tom,
These are my steps for increasing or decreasing the gain throughout a file.
First, I do Ctrl-A to select the entire file, which is the same as
Rich did with marking the beginning and end of the file.
Use Ctrl-G to bring up the Gain menu.
You are now on a scroll bar for setting the gain le
Okay..I let it sit a while, but really can't see much (if any) difference in
the volume of the file with normalization!

It seems to be stuck on 99 ppercent; is this normal? The whole file is at a
low volume, so I don't know if just "normalization will help!

On my copy of Direct Cut, normalization is a few items below Gain in the
Edit menu. If you select the file as noted and go down to Normalize and
press enter, you should get a significant increase in volume.

Okay..I'm obviously missing something here! I thought I did see a
"normalization" thing, but don't see it now! I see numbers; I see "flat
button"..but what I don't see is where I'm supposed to change the volume!
Sorry, but need more explanation please!

A friend of mine has over 1 thousand CD's that she wants to put on a

With the file loaded, press the home key and then b to mark the
beginning. Press the end key and then n to mark the end. Go into the
Edit menu and try the default setting for the gain. Also, you may want
to just try normalizing, which often suffices.

MP3 Direct Cut has a "gain" feature. I tried using it to raise the volume

Hello:
It works while recording but it appears to be a strange setup. I don't
think it is actually tied to the VU meter but bassed on sound amplitude.
Any comments anyone?

HI guys: What might I have moved in Goldwave? Because when Alt+Shift+e
while playing the file, instead of saying how much time has passed, it
says weird numbers like 100, 35, 36 etc? Using Jaws14 with Goldwave 5.52

GoldWave includes a Tone Meter visual. It emits a different tone based on
the amplitude. It can be configured to beep only when the amplitude is

The best I can say about the Sirius XM iPhone app is that it is kind of
accessible.
There are 5buttons, undefined by Voiceover which get you into different
categories such as on demand and favorites. I use it to play on demand
programming and with a little practice that is pretty manageable.
How does the audio alert feature work now?

Hi Gang:
Has there been a discussion with Chris, the creator of GoldWave to provide
an audio alert when the input signal reaches 0 DB? Of course, that would
require:
1.The ability to send the alert to a different soundcard rather than
the card used for the audio recording. And,

Greetings,
It is rather like on the three-headed tape decks you can hear the recording
immediately after it has been made. This facility must be used with great
care as it will lead to severe feedback.
I've never risked using this facility.

Let's say you are using a headset with mike and you have your output set to
go directly to your headset rather than your speakers. You can play a track
and record yourself on another track at the same time. This is what I'm
guessing.
