Hello:
It works while recording but it appears to be a strange setup. I don't
think it is actually tied to the VU meter but bassed on sound amplitude.
Any comments anyone?

The following is from Chris at Goldwave.com
GoldWave includes a Tone Meter visual. It emits a different tone
based on
the amplitude. It can be configured to beep only when the amplitude is
above a certain level. Press F11 and choose the Visual tab to select
it or
set its properties (or select a different visual to turn it off). It
uses
the Windows default sound card for playing the tone, so if you configure
GoldWave to use a different card, that would avoid interfering with a
recording.
