That should technically work. However, it seems a load more trouble on your
hands. I would try the oddcast plugin intergrated in winamp as it works
dandily.

hi hayden,
Gave sam encoders a try, and I don't really like them. They just seem
annoying and bad for me. While we're on the subject of broadcasting, would
it take up additional bandwidth if i had a winamp going and just had a line
recording plug-in all the time, and just unmuted my mic when it's t
Just go and use the DSP. I find it a lot better and useful as it is. Also,
you might consider using Sam DSP Encoders although oddcast is less CPU
intensive.

Oh, it will probably do all but title streaming. It'd be hard to put title
streaming into the sound card to feed to oddcast.

I'm not really sure, actually. It just says x hours of recording time. I
thought it meant the bitrate... but maybe not.
Ah well, I suppose I can either lug around a tape player or get out the

Hi,
Speaking of playing time, I'm looking into getting some sort of recorder to
bring with me on a two-week holiday. I see one here that has 128MB of
memory, records in MP3 format and supports 36 hours of time. About what
bitrate would that be?
thanks

hi,
I've got two cards. I was planning to use the USB one as the output for
winamp and the recording for the mic. I just thought that, since oddcast
wasn't picking up metadata, and it had a box for it, that it wasn't
recognizing winamp somehow.

You probably use What you Hear to make this work. This is probably more a
plugin for mixer users. You would need speech on another card or else you
would broadcast that too.

Hi all,
I've got the Oddcast standalone installed. There is a DSP for Winamp, but I
wanted to try the stand-alone first. My question is, how does one get it to
work with Winamp? The status line always says recording from microphone, and
there's only one option in the combo box which is microphone.
This is a very good question. I have a friend who tells me that it shows
my time incorrectly as well.
