And life is good, it works, Mutt rocks. How many MUAs have I tried to find
nirvana? How many WMs did I install to enable this lib or that so some
esoteric function in the newest ginchey MUA would be available?
It wasn't whether this XPM lib was installed, or if that widget was
compiled, or ha

I've recently moved into Mutt and I like it.
I have two things I just don't get. I am trying to get the threading to work
in the FreeBSD and Mutt-users maillists but no luck. I have the 'lists' line
correct in my muttrc, and the index format looks correct to me using the 'L'
as in the default

This won't work, because if you don't supply a regexp with a Mutt
pattern operator, the $default_hook gets used -- which will match
the given pattern agains the Fr

Hey guys. I noticed that mutt creates .lock files while reading from
mailboxes, as it should. At work here, we have some project accounts where
multiple users are managing mail. I'm wondering about mutt's capabilities in
this area, with respect to multiple users accessing the same mailboxes fr
Hello mutt folks,
I've got a small (yet interesting) problem; sometimes I receive messages
directed to me and to N other recipients, so to avoid `visual noise` when
N is BIG, I filter my mail with a procmail rule that will count the
number of recipients and if N >= MAX_RCPT it will replace

Thanks :) I should read doc first -- sorry.

Hi!
I was searching for a simple addressbook that could work with Mutt. I
have found one -- it's called abook. It's almost OK, I can simply query
it for an e-mail address. However there is one problem: I can't mail to
multiple addresses at once. I can ask abook for a pattern or for 'all'
and Mutt

Maybe I'm thinking Unix systems too much as multi-user
systems, but shouldn't the SMTP client (and credentials)
be available to more pr

I screwed something up - I've reworked a few things including
adding $alternates for my email addresses, and now my save-hook's
don't work. Now, I like my index_format because
- if I sent it, it shows the address that I sent it to
- if sent to me, it shows the address it was sent from

Mutt is better off as a simple mail reader. SMTP-AUTH can be done with
your local sendmail (if you install SASL).

Thanks - that worked. Now that I'm setting $alternates to
a regex for the email
I'm planning to add a doc/ subdirectory to the FTP area,
which should carry translations of the mutt documentation
which aren't included with the source code.
If you are maintaining such a translation, please contact
me.

Hm, what about SMTP-auth?
Mutt doesn't speak SMTP, so the local MTA has to ask for username and
password (AFAIK). Is this possible?

Hello List,
I have RTFM, several sample .muttrcs including Sven's and Gabe's, the faq and the gnu
privacy handbook and I am stumped. I want to autoview and decrypt the content of
encrypted
messages. I have tried every entry I can think of in .mailcap and .muttrc to try to
autoview octet-stream
Hardy --
mutt doesn't necessarily know that the message is from you unless you've
set up $alternates. Have a look at the manual for alternates, from, and
realname.

My muttrc has this format for the "index_format"
