I've been looking into getting just such a machine to replace my dual 1GHz PIII.
How about posting your system specs.

Hey Roberto
I'm a noobie to video processing so I can't be much help there but I do
have a ADVC-300.
It's been a great device.
Noisy VHS tapes that my capture card could only capture a few minutes at a
time are no problem with the ADVC-300.
It's rock solid and worth every penny.

Thanks Ray.
I wish I'd had these a few months ago.
I only started learning video processing about 6 months ago and it's a
steep learning curve.
I have a monutain of vhs tapes, 8mm film, and super 8 film I'm trying to
convert and preserve.
Some of this stuff dates to the late 50's.

Sorry for repeating myself but, put it in a book.

The Canopus is great.
So far I've has error free problem free captures.
I'm waiting to hear feedback when you get that HD-3000 from pchdtv.com.

Hey ya'll,
I need a little math help.
How do I use mpeg2enc to get maximum quality and still have it fit on one dvd?
I use Canopus ADVC-300 to capture from VHS tape.
The tape is about 90 minutes.
I've tried playing with -q -b to vary quality but I'm just guessing.
I tried tcrequant from the transc
Hey Y'all,
I recently purchased a Canopus ADVC-300 and I've been tickled pink with the results.
I've had nothing but error free perfect captures.
Just one thing.
How can I play video thru the ADVC-300 to the TV?
I have the composite out on the back connected to a TV.
What apps can I use to do this

Hey Y'all,
Is there a way to have mplayer send the output to the out port of a lml33
so I can view a mpeg file on the tv?
I thought -vo zr2 might work but all I get is
[home]$ mplayer -vo zr -vf zrmjpeg=lml33-NTSC movie.mpeg

Hey y'all,
I've got several home movies on vhs that my mom had had transfered from
8mm film
The tapes are pretty poor quality
When I try to capture I get

If I set the brightness with xawtv and close it the brightness remains set

Without xawtv running if I run "v4lctl show" the brightness always returns

I've found a strange combination that works.
Using kernel 2.6.6

If I use the drivers that come with the kernel I can control the

I have the output connected to a tv. It makes no difference connected or
not. I run "v4lctl bright 0" and the tv that the output is connected to
flickers and returns to normal. If I run "v4lctl show" it returns "bright:

Hi,
I downloaded the 2.6.5 source from kernel.org and built it with full

I just purchased a LML33
The LinVS module that comes with it compiles but locks the machine when I
try to insmod
I can load the v4l kernel modules and record with lavrec but it uses up

I downloaded the latest mjpegtools and zoran packages
I've not been able to get xawtv to work.

Thanks but none none of these setting help.
How can I tell what the input was recorded at, if it was greater that 255?
Would this be a setting for the zoran driver or lavrec?
I don't know enough yet to determine where the problem is?

Hi,
I'm a complete novice to video processing. I just bought a LML33.
I have the latest zoran driver.
I capture using "lavrec -fa -in -d2 -q100 -Rl -l100".
The recording is very good except that any bright white is too bright.
The picture is washed out.
Otherwise the picture is good.
I test playba
