if it the mac book pro with the optical / dvd drive on the right hand side then it will be a Mag Safe, not mag safe 2 as the 2 dind't come out till the thinner and non dvd drive models. So if it's the 13" 2012 model then you would want a 60W Mag Safe ac power adaptor. -Original Message-

That's what the internet tells me, too. My confusion comes from all such adapters on Amazon specifying they're for the Pro from before mid 2012. I don't know why they would say that, as this Mac is from 2012. I assume it came out in the middle of the year, as they often do. -- Alex Hall > O

Hi, I haven't ever found it in the software anywhere. It's usually physically engraved on the bottom of the MacBook Pro somewhere, but that doesn't help us. Apple usually has those designators on their site somewhere. I usually just take the 9-2 identifier and add MacBook Pro Apple and throw

Thanks for the explanation. I've ordered one, and feel better about having done so now that you've explained why the mid 2012 thing is there. I'm also glad to know I'm not missing where that identifier is. That's an odd omission, as the correct identifier is easy to find within iOS' settings. ,
