if it the mac book pro with the optical / dvd drive on the right hand side then it will be a Mag Safe, not mag safe 2 as the 2 dind't come out till the thinner and non dvd drive models.

Can anyone suggest what I should look for? Incidentally, I'm happier than ever that Apple has moved to USB-C these days, as finding those adapters is way simpler.
