I rarely read books in TextEdit, but one way to mark your place and find it
again is to enter an unusual string of characters and use the Find command when
you next open the book. Don't forget to delete those characters immediately,
though, or it will cause confusion later.

Try:
Type a name which is in your contacts;
Press down arrow until you hear the full name read out;
Press return;
Press left arrow;

Nothing when I followed those steps. I have no way to search by date or
mailbox or any of the other search features. I can do a spotlight search and
that works fine but it would be nice in mail. Not sure why it doesn't work the

If I create a new message, reply, or forward, Mail fills in contact names where
it knows them. Normally this is fine, but occasionally I need to see the email

switch to the dock via that unintentionally if you have the default command
set.
Also, do you have any applications docked or hovering around the top of the

I have had two problems with Voice Over or the behaviours of 10.3 Mavericks.
First, when trying to attach a file to a message, even though the attachment
was in my downloads folder, I could not get to Downloads folder when trying to
choose that attachment all I got was my Home Directory

Are you using the dialog in mail to add attachments? If so, why not just
copy the file in Finder and then paste it into the body of the message?
Select all is command-a. Make sure you interact first with the document.

It's much easier. Find the file in Finder, copy it, then simply cmd-v anywhere
in your email and the file is embedded. If your recipient has a mac they will
see it embedded, and I think some Windows clients support this, else they will
see it attached as normal. Either way it works.

complained. I only had one failure, and that was to a sighted Mac user who told
me the file was corrupted. I don't know what happened there, but I sent it

* press cmd-shift-a while in the Mail message to bring up the Attach dialog.

Doing a simple command+c/command+v should do the trick in most
circumstances. You were probably getting the command in there, but terminal
had no output to give you.
You can see output by interacting with the box below the close button, and
using vo+up/down arrow to see lines.
