Hi,

I don't use the Finder method like others have mentioned and everything works 
as it should.  Here's the steps I do:

* press cmd-shift-a while in the Mail message to bring up the Attach dialog.
* In List view (cmd-2), press cmd-shift-h to focus on my Home directory.
* Interact with the File Table and press VO-back slash to expand it.
* navigate down to the file I wish to add and press return.

Wherever your cursor was at the time of the cmd-shift-a will be the place where 
the file is put.
