Yeah that’s it,
When you say older machine,
It isn’t one with a dvd drive that you could write the iso to a dvd disk and
then install that way.

Huh? That's all I've ever done with iso files, dd'd them to some media.
Of course, what's really cool is to install directly from the iso and

you get a key. I was setting up someone's machine for them and they did
not have internet, so I chose that option from the choices, and the key
was provided on screen.

answer to your question is no, you don't have to burn it onto a DVD.

just a quick message to let you know I have discovered you can not only
make iso files in Disk Utility, you can also open them in Finder. They
appear like any other Cd/Dvd drive. Pressing command-e will eject or
unmount the iso image.

Yes, you can use the Disk Utility to burn an ISO. What I usually do is go to
the menu bar, and on the Images menu, I arrow down to Burn. I believe the
shortcut is Command B (as in Bravo).

I am not interested in making a hybrid cd from my own content. Instead, I am
interested in preserving a hybrid cd. I have the physical disk, and want to
make a .iso file from it. Normally disk utility on the mac does a fine job, as
you can make a CD/dvd master, and rename the

It doesn't really matter what I want to use it for. I want to mount it like a
CD, just like it is actually burned to a CD. Which I've been saying in the

Question: if you dont care about the contents of the iso why would you
need to mount it? Most times it is needed to be mounted
to gain access to an installer, etc unless you are using an app such
as Parallels or VMWare Fusion which recognises ISO install i
